    Writing Through Fear

    This quote by Natalie Goldberg has gotten me thinking about my writing a lot lately. Where am I going with my work? What is my purpose in my writing? So many thoughts and questions. The novel I’ve been working on is stalled. I’m not sure where to go with it. I’ve been reading Annie Dillard’s, “The Writing Life” and one of the her thoughts is that when this happens, something is fractured in the story. There is something wrong with it.     Quelling Your Fears

    Yesterday I met up with another NaNoWriMo writer to discuss building a community of writers. We have this vision of the craziness of NaNoWriMo being carried throughout the year. We are hoping to create some meet ups to help with education, community and improving our work. One of the ways we spoke about is critique. My suggestion of reading work out loud for critique created a visceral reaction during my meeting. It reminded me that fear is the thing that keeps us stuck.
